Golf Leagues at Massanutten - 2010

Dear Massanutten Golfer:

As the weather improves day by day, the 2010 golfing season is just around the corner. This winter has been a hard few months on those avid winter golfers. It has been quite some time since we have seen these amounts of snow during the winter season. The one result that all golfers should relish this year is the improved conditioning of local golf courses from this snow cover. With the Masters around the corner, golf is starting to buzz as spring slowly comes in. This year promises to be another great year on the links at Massanutten Resort.

The relocation of the Woodstone Meadows Golf Shop, off Silverstone Lane, has been a welcomed addition this last year. It has allowed us to have the golf shop, Driving Range and the Dead Solid Golf Simulator at the same facility. This has allowed us to be able to offer many different programs to our owners and guests. We continually look for new ways to grow the game of golf at Massanutten Resort.

The Dead Solid Golf Simulator has probably been the biggest hit in the golf department at Massanutten Resort. The golf simulator features realistic indoor golf through championship play, driving range usage, video swing analysis and custom club fitting. Course available for play include Pebble Beach Golf Links, Rancho La Quinta, Cog Hill, Harbour Town Golf Links and many more. No matter if the weather outside is sunny, raining or snowing, it's always 70 degrees and sunny indoors at the Massanutten Resort Dead Solid Golf Simulator! Golfing leagues will be formed for play on the golf simulator throughout the year. We also look forward to being able to adapt the golf simulator into use within our golf learning and playing leagues. Check back for more information.

Demo Days will be held every Wednesday from May 26th through August 25th. They will be held at the Driving Range from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. Golfers will be allowed to demo equipment from all the top golfing brands including: Titleist, Cobra, Callaway, Taylor Made, Nike and Ping. The annual 2010 Club Manufacturer Demo Day will be held June 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Representatives from all the major golf maufacturers will be present with all the latest golfing equipment. Refreshments will be provided compliments of Massanutten Resort.

This year, our learning programs will be organized into three different divisions. We will be offering a men's league, a ladies league and a junior league. These leagues continue to grow each year as result of excellent participation from our employees and club members. Our ultimate goal for all our programs is to get more participation in the Massanutten Resort Club Championship to be held August 14th and 15th.

Men's League will begin May 5th at 4:00 p.m. The participation level has stayed consistent for the last few seasons. This year we are looking to take the league to the next level by hopefully adding several new faces to our loyal group of club members. September 15th will mark the start of our Match Play tournament. Match Play will be divided into an A & B division. The cost of league participation this year will be $40.00. This fee includes the cost of league play, but does not include any additional fees such as green fees, cart fees or tournament fees. A special league rate will apply for any non-members and guests. Tee times are reserved each Wednesday beginning at 4:00 p.m. Call to sign-up in advance.

Ladies League will begin the season by offering clinics emphasizing putting, chipping and full swing with irons and woods. The first week of clinics will be held April 6th, 7th and 8th at 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Woodstone Meadows G.C. These clinics will run for the four consecutive weeks of April. Call and sign-up for a time and day that you wish to participate on. The cost of the ladies league is $40.00. This fee includes the cost of the refresher clinics and league play, but does not include any additional fees such as green fees, cart fees or tournament fees. A special league rate will apply for any non-members and guests. Tee times are reserved each Thursday beginning at 4:30 p.m. Call to sign-up in advance.

Ladies League Newsletter

Our Junior Golf Program is affiliated with the First Tee Program of Harrisonburg. First Tee is a national organization promoting golf and life-skills education to juniors.

We will be offering two junior programs this summer. The 10-week Summer Program will be held on Saturdays for local youths. The age groups for the summer program are 5-8, 9-13 and 14-17, with the curriculum changing throughout the series. The cost of the program will be $100.00, half of which is returned to the junior in golf merchandise. This program will begin on June 12th this year. A cookout will held in mid-September to give awards and gifts out to the juniors.

Full Swing Junior Clinics will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays beginning May 31st. This program will be offered to children ages 5-17. The program will teach the essentials of the golf swing based on the GASP (Grip, Alignment, Stance and Posture) concept. The cost of this program will be $15.00 per session..
